I seriously need to start bringing my camera with me. We went to the Minnetonka Cave while up in Idaho. It is HUGE, there are 448 stairs in ... and another 448 stairs out. That doesn't include all the walking between stairs either. Did I bring tennis shoes? Nope. Yep, that's right folks, I walked all that in flip flops. Genius. And the tennis shoes I brought for K apparently hurt her feet. So, she trekked it in her flip flops too. Tyler carried L in the "kiddy back pack" as the kids call it, and us girls walked our butts all the way in. R had to be carried a bit on the trek in, but me, being in flip flops couldn't carry her very well. It was SO slippery and steep, and dark so I couldn't carry her for very long .. at least not without falling. And Tyler had L in his back pack, so he couldn't safely carry her either. But we did our best on the way in. By the time we were ready to trek out, her 3 year old legs were beat. But, I'm here to tell you, there are still good people in this world. The family that was just in front of us (we were DEAD last in our tour.) a dad, mom and 3 teenage kids, had already offered their flashlight to entertain R when she was getting tired and starting to cry. THEN, the dad (I really really wish I had at least gotten his name.) offered to carry R. He asked her if he could, and as nervous and shy as she was, she nodded, knowing it was her only hope.
Now, we were in the VERY back of the cave. That man carried R the ENTIRE way out. That's 448 stairs plus all the walking in between. I cried a little, and was very thankful. I think it hurt Tyler's man esteem, but we couldn't have managed that. What a nice guy! Thanks, whoever you are.

Look for the small miracles in your life, and you will find they are everywhere. Yes! There are still good people in this world. Lots of them. Everytime you can try to be one of them. The warm fuzzies you will feel are so worth the time and effort it will take.
(the saying is one I have on a tile displayed on my fireplace)
